The Laboratory for Process Measurement at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB-LPM) organized a one day workshop in the field of relative humidity measurement, in accordance with the activities planned within the scope of the project “Expansion of European Capacities in Humidity Measurement” (15RPT03 HUMEA) which is running under the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR).
The workshop was held in the premises of the FSB-LPM on May 27, 2019 and it was attended by 24 representatives coming from 10 accredited laboratories. All the laboratories are working or are planning to start working in the field of relative humidity measurements.
Following the welcome and introductory speech which were given by Prof. Dr. Sc. Davor Zvizdic, the Head of the Laboratory, the following topics were covered:
- Why humidity matters
- Methods of measurement of relative humidity and dew/frost point temperature using different types of sensors
- Calibration of humidity instruments and estimation of the related uncertainties
- Overview of the HUMEA project with the presentation of the achievements accomplished within work packages WP1, WP2, WP3 and WP4
- Humidity laboratory at FSB-LPM
During the last workshop section, the participants discussed about technical topics, their needs and opportunities for collaboration with FSB-LPM. It was concluded that FSB-LPM should, in the near future, organize the workshops and intercomparisons related to the humidity measurements.
In general, FSB-LPM recognizes the increasing need of Croatian industry for reliable humidity measurements. This input will help FSB-LPM to dedicate its efforts to improvements in this field.
